What’s the good news, ladies? October edition

WTGNL Oct 2017

Fourth quarter is here and open Enrollment is upon us!  Who’s ready?  Can’t ever say our industry is boring, can we?  I’m gearing up to attend the Women in Insurance & Financial Services (WIFS) National Conference next week in Minneapolis and excited to meet a bunch of Wonder Women there!  This month, I’m happy to introduce you to three women that I know will be killin’ it in the fourth quarter!  Click HERE to be in awe as you meet Rachel, Michelle and Rachel!

Can I get a “No?!”

Just Say NoWhen I start to get frazzled I hear my mother in my head saying, “If you don’t value your time, no one else will.” As women, I feel that, at times, we suffer from the “Wonder Woman Complex” of being able to do it all, and often times to our detriment. We can be fearful of the societal response of saying “no” and I’m here to tell you it’s OK to do it!

When I served as National President of Women in Insurance & Financial Services (WIFS), my predecessor, Angie Shay, programmed us all so that when a decision was to be made that would impact the organization, if it didn’t engage members or generate revenue, then we shouldn’t be doing it. This made decisions very black and white and easy to move initiatives forward.

What’s the Good News, Ladies? June Edition

Good News June

The year is flying by! I can’t believe it’s already June, and I’m super excited because my brother and sister-in-law are going to be welcoming my new niece into the world in a few short weeks. Maybe I can get her into the industry early! This project has been hugely rewarding for me as a way to spread the good news about women in our industry and the incredible things they are doing! This month, you’ll get to meet some great women who were introduced to me by other great women. I’m sure you’ll have fun getting to know Sheryl, Ande and Stacey a little better. I know I did!

Feature Friday: What’s the good news, ladies? May Edition!

So, first things first …I won! I’m still in shock over winning the BenefitsPRO Broker of the Year Award!  This was the award that I told you about last month. Internally, they call it the BOY Award, so it was extra gratifying for this GIRL to take the crown!  The BenefitsPRO BrokerExpo conference in Indianapolis was incredible, and I was honored to be recognized by my peers in the industry — truly a highlight in my career thus far.

This month, I’m excited to introduce you to Cornelia, Joan and ShirleyAnn.  Cornelia has been a longtime advocate for our industry and for women as well, and I feel very fortunate that I met her through her national involvement in WIFS.  Joan has made a huge impact on my career by showing me the value of education and how crucial is is in our industry. She is my go-to resource for anything concerning our industry’s legislative landscape. And finally, ShirleyAnn. I don’t even know where to begin — to know ShirleyAnn is to experience her. She has an exuberance that just makes you want to strive for greatness in our industry.  I am honored to introduce you to these incredible women, and I know you’ll enjoy getting to know them a little better and hearing about the great things they are doing in our industry!

What’s the good news, ladies? April edition

Who’s ready to write out tax checks? Can you believe we are already through the first quarter of 2017? There’s a couple items of business I want to hit on this month. Since you know this is all about recognizing women in our industry, I thought I’d give you a few ideas. WIFS and NAHU have great awards programs for their members to help get you recognized for the hard work you did last year. WIFS’s program is called Circle of Excellence and NAHU’s program is called LPRT. Check them out and start collecting some well-deserved bling!

This month, I’m going to introduce you to Heidi, Kristen and Kim. I have known Heidi for 10+ years, and she is the reason I became a part of WIFS, which parlayed me into being their National President a couple years ago! Miss Kristen will be speaking on the What’s the Good News, Ladies panel at the BenefitsPRO BrokerExpo conference in Indianapolis this month! And finally, Kim and I connected when she recognized one of the women featured in this series! Click here to read more and be inspired!
